Addiction Recovery Resources of New
Orleans (ARRNO) offers an intensive
outpatient treatment program (IOP)
to enable patients to participate in
treatment from 6 to 9 p.m. Monday
through Friday, while continuing to
engage in their normal daily
responsibilities. Our mission and
intention is to provide
cost-effective treatment in an
outpatient setting to those who
qualify for this level of structure.
The IOP group process therapy
consists of education about the
disease of addiction, an emphasis on
life skills necessary to remain in
recovery. Group process leaders
address interpersonal and
developmental issues, and the group
is structured to complete the first
three steps of Alcoholic Anonymous
(AA). A weekly individual therapy
session with the patient's staff
counselor affirms the progress made
in groups and lays the groundwork
for further work. An introduction to
AA and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) is
achieved through education and
12-Step meetings. A psychiatric
follow-up is prescribed if
indicated. This program is medically
directed with a multidisciplinary
staff, all of whom participate in
developing a treatment plan that
addresses the identified issues of
each patient.
A unique component of our IOP
program is the ability of
significant others in treatment,
hour-for-hour, with the identified
patient. We believe that when
someone becomes ill with addictive
disease, the family unit also
becomes ill. By including
significant others we can begin the
process of healing relationships and
addressing dysfunctional behaviors.
The patient's extended family is
included in the process in a
multi-family group experience on
Tuesday evenings. When available,
family members are encouraged to
utilize the free counseling services
of Addiction Recovery Resources'
supervised counselor interns.
Upon completion of the Intensive
Outpatient Program, the patient
moves to our Continuing Care
Program. At this level, graduates
meet weekly for one and one half
hours with other program graduates
and a certified therapist. This
group allows us to guide the patient
in early recovery and to monitor
their psychological and emotional
progress so that appropriate
interventions may be prescribed if
indicated.
Most insurance pays for the IOP
level of treatment for those who
meet criteria. Pricing does not
include medical appointments,
staffing , and laboratory fees.
Payment arrangements can be made for
candidates with a good work history.
